BTC 20 Adds Third Title Bout

In the co-main event of BTC 20: Night of Champions Windsor’s TJ Laramie (12-5) takes on Mexican prospect Erik Neftaly Martínez (10-5) for the inaugural BTC Fight Featherweight strap.

Laramie has long been considered one of Canada’s best fighters. Laramie dominated on the regional scene in Canada from 2015 through 2019 where he earned ten victories and picked up featherweight titles from TKO Major League MMA and Prospect Fighting Championship. The latter earned him a spot on Dana White’s Contender Series in August 2020. With a first-round victory, Laramie secured a UFC contract. However, after only two bouts the Canadian’s UFC dream was cut short.

This title fight will be Laramie’s first bout since leaving the UFC. At only 25 years old TJ is only just beginning to enter his athletic prime and likely still has a long career ahead of him. With a victory at BTC 20 Laramie is looking to bounce back and build his way back to the top of the world’s featherweight rankings. A victory and a third championship belt would be a strong start to his comeback story.

Erik Neftaly Martínez already has 10 wins on the regional circuit in Mexico including a walk-off knockout in March 2023 for Konyac FC. Martínez has proved his ability to finish fights and hang with tough competitors on Mexico’s regional scene. Now he looks to branch out and make his name abroad with his first fight outside of his home country. With a title and victory over a UFC veteran on the line, this is the fight of a lifetime for Martínez.

The inaugural BTC Fight Featherweight belt is set to catapult one of these fighters’ careers. On Saturday, June 17th we get to figure out who that will be. BTC 20: Night of Champions takes place at Burlington Training Centre in Burlington, Ontario. Doors open at 5pm and the fights start at 6pm. The PPV can be ordered at BTCFight.ca/live.
