Main Event for BTC 20: Night of Champions

In the main event Canada’s number one lightweight Adam “Maverick” Assenza (16-7) is set to take on Polo “Toro” Reyes (10-8) on June 17th in his hometown of Burlington, Ontario.

Maverick currently holds the most victories (8) and the most knockouts (5) in BTC Fight history including his victory at BTC 3: Prophecy over Shawn Wallace to win the inaugural BTC Fight Lightweight title. However, Assenza would go to on lose the title to UFC veteran Jason Saggo at BTC Fight’s following event BTC 4: Vendetta in Peterborough, ON. Since then Assenza has had five victories in the BTC Fight cage and has also secured the B2 Lightweight championship with a win over undefeated Chance Beck. Some of his recent victories include UFC veteran Cody Pfister, Kazuma Maruyama, and Dominic Clark.

After a frustrating end to 2022 consisting of three back-to-back bouts canceled, either during fight week or at weigh-ins, Assenza can’t wait to get back into action. June 17th he looks to build his legacy, add another title to his collection and take out the man who is likely the toughest test of his fight career.

His opponent is Mexico’s Polo “Toro” Reyes. Originally gaining notoriety on The Ultimate Fighter Latin American Reyes entered the UFC in 2015. Between 2015 and 2018 Reyes locked up four victories inside the Octagon including victories over Matt Frevola, Jason Novelli, and Dong Hyun Ma. In that run, he also was awarded two “Knockout of the Night” bonuses and one “Performance of the Night” bonus.

Since leaving the UFC he has picked up two victories for Lux Fight League airing on UFC Fight Pass. Reyes comes into this bout hungry and looking to earn back a spot with one of the world’s top international promotions. And he hopes earning this Canadian title will get him where he needs to go.

With a combined 18 finishes between Assenza and Reyes this fight is guaranteed to be action-packed and dangerous from the opening bell. BTC 20: Night of Champions takes place at Burlington Training Centre in Burlington, Ontario on Saturday, June 17th, 2023. Doors open at 5pm and the fights start at 6pm.
