BTC Fight Promotions proudly returned with BTC 32: The Battle of Lundy’s Lane on Saturday, September 13th, at the Americana Resort in Niagara Falls. Marking our third pro event of the year and our third time bringing MMA to Niagara Falls, fans packed the venue for a night filled with high stakes bouts, highlight-reel finishes, and the relentless energy that defines every BTC Fight Promotions events. Athletes from across Canada and Brazil closed in on the Niagara region to set the stage for one of our most action-packed cards to date.
Adam Assenza def. Gustavo Wurlitzer
Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) – Lightweight (155 lbs)
Burlington’s Adam Assenza reminded fans why he has been a staple of Canadian MMA, taking a dominant victory over Gustavo Wurlitzer across three rounds. The veteran lightweight kept the pressure on from start to finish, landing crisp combinations and controlling the cage. Assenza’s composure and output earned him a clean sweep on the judges’ scorecards and another big win to add to his impressive résumé.
Alana Cook def. Vanessa Melo
Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) – Bantamweight (135 lbs)
Alana Cook picked up the biggest win of her career, edging UFC veteran Vanessa Melo by split decision. Cook’s forward pressure and timely striking helped her take two of the three rounds, while Melo fired back with own striking and in-ring experience making it a razor-close bout. In the end, Cook’s grit and volume carried her to a career-defining victory.
Luke Roberts def. Davis Rapagna
Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) – Round 1, 3:22 – Lightweight (155 lbs)
Luke Roberts wasted no time making a statement in front of his home crowd. After securing a takedown, he smoothly transitioned to the back and locked in a rear-naked choke, forcing the tap before the end of the first round. The victory improves Roberts to 5-1-1 and solidifies him as one of Ontario’s top lightweight prospects.
Blake Oswald def. Avinash Chowtee
TKO (Injury) – Round 3, 0:36 – Lightweight (155 lbs)
In an exciting lightweight clash, Blake Oswald and Avinash Chowtee pushed the pace deep into the third round before the bout was stopped due to an injury. A high kick early in the third round fractured Chowtee’s forearm, bringing an end to the bout. While the finish wasn’t the way Oswald envisioned it, the competitor from Lindsay’s Big Country MMA showcased his pressure, striking and grappling dominance on the way to his first victory inside the BTC Fight cage. The win moves him back to a positive pro record at 3-2 and sets him up for an exciting push in the lightweight division.

Aiden Appel def. Hudson Adair
TKO – Round 1, 1:30 – Welterweight (170 lbs)
Aiden Appel stayed undefeated with his fifth consecutive finish, stopping Hudson Adair just 90 seconds into the fight. With heavy hands and relentless pressure, the St. Catharines native moved to 5-0 and continues to look like a future pro standout.
Anthony Melendez def. Brandon Bouchard
Submission (Guillotine) – Round 1, 1:24 – Catchweight (190 lbs)
Toronto’s Anthony Melendez once again showcased his finishing instincts, catching Brandon Bouchard in a tight guillotine early in Round 1. Melendez remains undefeated, earning his third victory inside the BTC Fight cage and adds another first-round finish to his résumé.
Joey Ruscica def. Ryan McNally
Submission (Arm Triangle) – Round 2, 1:15 – Featherweight (145 lbs)
Joey Ruscica impressed in his sophomore outing, securing an arm triangle choke in the second round against Ryan McNally. The Port Colborne fighter showed poise in his first cage appearance, earning a unanimous decision at BTC 30. Now, he has backed it up with an impressive finish, making a strong start to his career at 2-0.
Shane Melo def. Miko Dusek
Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) – Bantamweight (135 lbs)
In a battle of undefeated prospects, Cambridge’s Shane Melo edged out a split decision win over Niagara Top Team’s Miko Dusek. The fast-paced fight saw both men have their moments, but a combination of damage, striking and grappling led to Melo earning the nod and improving his record to 3-0.
Hashir Astor def. TJ Maddox
TKO – Round 2, 0:10 – Catchweight (138 lbs)
Woodbridge’s Hashir Astor made his debut in spectacular fashion, stopping TJ Maddox just 10 seconds into the second round with a head kick followed by a barrage of punches. The quick finish puts Astor on the amateur radar right away. Keep an eye out for this competitor heading into 2026.
Belal Zarif def. Zilin Liu
Submission (Standing Guillotine) – Round 1, 0:52 – Welterweight (170 lbs)
Belal Zarif needed less than a minute to make a statement in his amateur debut, submitting Zilin Liu with a standing guillotine. Zarif kicked off the show with a strong performance and showed the level of new talent coming from North York’s Budo Canada.
