Title Fight and Former Champ Added to BTC 24

Two of Ontario’s top fighters have been added to BTC 24: Apex against difficult challengers from America and Brazil.

FLYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: LARAMIE VS SMITH

The BTC Fight Promotions Flyweight Championship is back on the line at BTC 24 in Burlington. James Clarke previously held the title following his victory at BTC 6: Night of Champions in 2019. Following an extended hiatus leading into the pandemic, the title was vacated and left vacant for several years.

Now Canada’s number 1 ranked flyweight Tony Laramie (8-2) looks to capture the belt against a dangerous American competitor “That Guy” Josh Smith (12-9).

Fighting out of Windsor Ontario’s Maximum Training Centre, Laramie is ranked 1st of 21 active Canadian pro flyweights (outside a major organization). He has boasted six impressive wins in a row including a 33-second knockout in his promotional debut at BTC 21: Fight Night Kitchener over Daniel Nunez. At only 25 years old with a well-rounded game, Tony Laramie is set up to be one of Canada’s next big prospects on the international stage. But first, he’ll need to conquer his most difficult challenger to date.

His opponent in the cage on June 8th will be “That Guy” Josh Smith. Smith is fighting out of American Top Team’s Coconut Creek, Florida headquarters. Here Smith trains regularly with top talent from around the globe including UFC Flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja, RIZIN flyweight champion Kyoji Horiguchi and former ONE FC flyweight champion Adriano Moraes. Smith a dangerous grappler with 6 out of his 12 wins coming by way of submission. Smith believes he has what it takes to defeat the Canadian prodigy and bring the BTC Flyweight title back to the US.

LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT: PREOLEC VS WURLITZER

Kyle Prepolec (17-8) is set to battle it out with Gustavo “Show Man” Wurlitzer (25-29) in what will surely be an electrifying lightweight bout.

Also fighting out of Maximum Training Centre in Windsor, Ontario Kyle “Killshot” Preprolec is a force to be reckoned with. The former BTC Fight Promotions Super Lightweight champion has finished 13 of his 17 victories inside the cage including 9 wins via knockout and 4 by submission. Following his BTC Super Lightweight title defence, at BTC 5: Typhoon in his hometown of Windsor, Prepolec was picked up by the UFC. Following two decision losses and an extended injury he was released from the promotion. Since returning to the regional scene in 2021 Prepolec has picked up 3 victories including back-to-back head kick knockouts in 2022 and 2023.

The Canadian will have his work cut out for him against Gustavo “Show Man” Wurlitzer. The Brazilian fights out of “My King is Immortal” a renowned gym in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil. Wurlitzer has ended 22 of his 25 victories inside the distance with 7 knockouts and 15 submissions to his name. The “Show Man” has fought around the world and has picked up multiple regional titles in his long fight career.
