BTC 14 Main Event Announcement

BURLINGTON – January 17, 2022 –  BTC FIGHT PROMOTIONS today announces Adam “Maverick” Assenza vs Kazuma Maruyama will serve as the main event for BTC 14: Clash, taking place March 5th, 2022 at the RBC Place in London, Ontario.

Adam Assenza, 14-6, the former BTC Fight Lightweight Champion has been absent from the Canadian scene for over two years. During that time “Maverick” has taken two fights south of the border in Kentucky picking up his second championship belt for B2 Fight Series via 5th round TKO over undefeated prospect Chance Beck. Assenza looks to extend his win streak to five when he meets his toughest test to date in Japan’s Kazuma Maruyama.

“I’m honoured to fight at home again,” said Assenza. “It’s something that I’ve missed. Ontario has the best fans that show great support.” Fighting out of Burlington, ON, Assenza just completed his twentieth professional bout inside the cage and is the number one ranked lightweight in Canada outside of the UFC. He currently rides a four-fight win streak extending over the last two years.

In a time when many Canadians are struggling to find visas to compete in the USA - Assenza has taken the proactive step to take advantage of his dual citizenship and get his American passport. Already primed to make the jump to an international organization a win in March could easily catapult Assenza to the UFC.

Standing across from the Canadian will be an elite Japanese fighter - Kazuma Maruyama (12-5). “I’m very honoured to fight in front of you guys. I am very happy to get the chance to beat up Adam who is a champion of B2 Fight Series,” said Maruyama. Most of his experience comes from the legendary Pancrase promotion where he has ten victories. A perennial top contender in Japan, Kazuma aims to add to his current three-fight win streak whilst getting the attention of the major North American organization. Maruyama is on a three-fight win streak coming into this main event showdown with Maverick.

This fight pits the two of the most dangerous fighters from Canada and Japan against each other. Both men have nine victories each by either knockout/submission in their fight careers and are both coming off impressive finishes in their last fights. According to Maruyama, “...both of us are very aggressive fighters and it will be a very good fight.” Assenza added, “Maruyama is a dangerous opponent but I’ve seen holes in his game that I will exploit. You can expect a finish on March 5th.” With a combined 18 finishes this contest could end in the blink of an eye with an incredible reward of a major league contract for the victor.

BTC 14: Clash takes place Saturday, March 5th at RBC Place in London, Ontario. The card will feature twelve fights including the semifinals of the $10,000 Bantamweight Tournament.
